In Edinburgh, a section of Craighall Road has been shut down indefinitely, with reopening now scheduled for summer 2028. The closure began on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, and is part of the major demolition and rebuild of Trinity Academy.

How the Academy Rebuild Will Work Around the Road Closure
This closure is part of a broader initiative to demolish and rebuild much of Trinity Academy’s campus. Once completed:
- Student capacity will increase from approximately 950 to 1,200.
- Despite expansion, the overall campus footprint will shrink.
- Space freed by the rebuild will become a shared green area, serving both Trinity Academy and Trinity Primary School. midlothianview.com
Project Timeline & Phases
- The early phase, completed in 2022, involved a new recreation and sports centre located at Bangholm.
- Throughout construction, students will remain on-site, with those in affected buildings relocated to temporary classrooms.
